High Peak and Derbyshire Dales Accreditation Scheme
Accreditation schemes are becoming increasingly widespread across the country. They reflect the growing importance of the private sector to meet the housing need, a commitment amongst those in the housing business to improve the perception and take up of this accommodation by recognizing good quality accommodation and management and, where necessary, encouraging improvement.
WHAT IS AN ACCREDITATION SCHEME?
Accreditation provides a set of standards relating to:
- the management and
- the physical condition of privately rented accommodation.
Properties are accredited when these standards are met.
Landlords are invited to put their properties forward to join the Scheme and to agree to abide by the Scheme standards.
THE AIMS OF THE SCHEME
- To encourage improvements in the quality of privately rented accommodation across High Peak and Derbyshire Dales
- To recognize good quality accommodation and good management and to provide incentives for participation in the Scheme.
- Involve landlords in the development of the Scheme to ensure that fair and reasonable standards are set.
- To encourage prospective tenants to identify accredited properties.
- To encourage landlords with properties below the standard to make improvements.

HOW TO BECOME ACCREDITED
STANDARD LEVEL OF ACCREDITATION
- Complete an application form which details your properties and your contact details
- Complete and sign a Fit and Proper Person Assessment and a Legal Declaration
- Show that you meet the Management and Property Standards for the Standard Level of Accreditation set out in the Documents below by filling in the Self Assessment forms for both Management and Property and then submit.
- You may be asked to give us access to a selection of your accommodation for inspection.
- Provide copies of the documents listed in the document below.
IF YOU DO NOT MEET ALL THE STANDARDS FOR THE STANDARD LEVEL OF ACCREDITATION THEN YOU WILL BE ASKED TO COMPLETE A PROPERTY IMPROVEMENT PLAN (PIP). HOWEVER THE STANDARD LEVEL OF ACCREDITATION SHOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT TO MEET AS IT CONTAINS STANDARDS THAT AS A LANDLORD YOU WILL PROBABLY BE MEETING ANYWAY.
PREMIER LEVEL OF ACCREDITATION
Once you have reached the Standard Level of Accreditation we will contact you to see if you want to be considered for the Premier Level. For the Standards of the Premier Level see the form below. There will be Grants available for this Level of Accreditation. ( See Section on Benefits of Accreditation )
