There are many reasons why it will benefit you to become an Accredited Landlord with High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire Dales District Council

As well as having the status of being known as an Accredited landlord in the area, who therefore has a high standard of properties at reasonable rents and an efficient managerial approach, you will also be eligible for:

  • Free advertising on Home Options – the website for Housing with the two councils
  • Advertising in the Local Paper as an Accredited Landlord.
  • Use of Accreditation Logo on all stationary / advertising etc
  • Quick turnabout of Housing Allowance
  • Access to Bond Scheme
  • Access to Tenancy Support – for tenants who are experiencing problems – budgeting; benefits;
  • Mediation services – between Landlords and tenants to help with rent arrears and evictions etc.
  • Use of HPBC’s and DDDC’s out of hours emergency services (plumbers / electricians) and other approved contractors
  • Discounts from DIY retailers in the area – Homebase (Ashbourne) / Wickes’ (Glossop) / Focus (Buxton). More information on these to come
  • Access to Landlord advice/support / information – dedicated phone-line / newsletters / forums and information evenings etc
  • Free advice / information /checks from Police and Fire Services on Home Security / Safety and the law affecting tenancies and letting
  • Opportunities to work imaginatively with the two councils’ Housing Departments around nominations from prospective tenant lists.
  •  Landlord Grants

    Within the Derbyshire Dales area grants are available to assist landlords in improving their properties so that they meet the Premier Accreditation Standard and to ensure that radon levels are below the Government Action Level of 200Bq/m3.

     

     

    The maximum grant is £1,500 and qualifying works are:

     

    ·        Radon testing and remediation

    ·        Fire detection

    ·        Central heating and associated works

    ·        Security works

    ·        Low energy light bulbs

     

     

     

    In order to qualify for a grant a landlord would have to be a member of the Peak Sub-Region Landlord Accreditation Scheme and must be working towards the Premier Accreditation Standard.  In addition the applicant must agree to work with Derbyshire Dales District Council by being prepared to accept tenant nominations from the Council’s housing register.

     

    Grants are offered subject to conditions that are aimed at ensuring that the property is available for letting through the Peak Sub-Region Landlord Accreditation Scheme for at least 5 years after the completion of the grant works.
